In order to solve such a problem, the development of a new product "Euglena no Ryokuju" and a collaborative project with the Jiyugaoka Shopping District Promotion Association were launched.

From Jiyugaoka to the whole country

Jiyugaoka Shopping Street, which is adjacent to Jiyugaoka Station in Tokyo, is one of Tokyo's leading shopping streets with 1,300 stores, and various events are held throughout the year, and its high information dissemination ability is also attracting attention. As the collaboration with the Jiyugaoka Shopping District Promotion Association progressed, Soma began to wonder if there could be new initiatives with the Jiyugaoka area.

"Is there anything that can contribute to the future of children in Jiyugaoka, just as we are conducting the Mifaiyu Project on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa, which is the production base of Euglena, for the purpose of regional development? ... "

The result was the "Future Children Project," in which children who grow up in different environments on Ishigaki Island and Jiyugaoka interact. In the first project held in 2015, six elementary school students from Ishigaki Island and six elementary school students from Jiyugaoka visited each other's hometowns and took on various challenges such as environmental conservation activities and the development of school lunch menus.

The "Future Children Project" continued the following year and provided an opportunity for children to learn about the importance of nature, the diversity of local cultures, and the charm of each region.
