As part of the Mifaiyu Project, we provide support for activities that help develop the region of Ishigaki Island. Through these activities, we are aiming to contribute toward promoting Ishigaki Island in terms of attracting tourists and creating jobs.

[Ishigaki Island Marathon]

We support the Ishigaki Island Marathon, which is Japan’s southernmost city marathon.

[Churashima Shoko Project]

We support the Churashima Shoko Project, which is a joint project between Yaeyama Commercial and Technical High School and Ishigaki City Central Shopping Street Promotion Association (Euglena Mall). We are working on developing products that use Euglena and local products from Ishigaki Island.

[“Euglena Mall” Naming Rights]

We acquired the naming rights for Japan’s southernmost shopping street on Ishigaki Island and have been making efforts with the operation of the Euglena Mall, revitalizing the region, and conducting activities to promote development of the region since March 14, 2010.

[“Euglena Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal” Naming Rights]

After acquiring its naming rights, the Remote Island Terminal, which is the land-based gateway to the Yaeyama Islands, was renamed to Euglena Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal in April 2018.
The Euglena Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal is used by many tourists coming from places such as mainland Japan, Taiwan, and China, and is an important lifeline for people living in the Yaeyama region. The terminal is used by over 2 million people each year. After acquiring the naming rights for the terminal, we have been working hard to improve services for people who use the terminal and on activities to promote development of the Yaeyama region.

As part of the Mifaiyu Project, we hold science experiment classes for elementary, junior high, and high school students for the purpose of teaching them about the environment by making the best use of our strength as a biotechnology company involved in cutting-edge research of algae cultivation. euglena researchers visit schools and teach science experiment classes with the aim of increasing interest in science and spreading knowledge concerning environmental issues and biodiversity to the children and students of Ishigaki Island.
