The Nutrients in Chlorella

Chlorella is a major component of phytoplankton. It is a great source of protein, making up 65% of its weight! It is rich in protein, It also has a balanced profile of essential amino acids, and has plenty of other nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, carotenoids, unsaturated fatty acids, and chlorophyll. *The percentages of each component are estimates.

多くの機能性研究が発表されているクロレラ

Chlorella was formerly perceived as a substitute for vegetables. However, in the past 20 years, there has been significant progress in academic research on food functions, and chlorella is recognized these days as a multifunctional food. More than several hundred studies on chlorella's functional properties have been published so far, with research ongoing in areas such as the alleviation of lifestyle-related diseases, antioxidation and anti-inflammation, absorption inhibition and discharge of toxins, and immunostimulation.

Our
 Yaeyama Chlorella

Yaeyama Chlorella, grown with plenty of sunlight

Our chlorella is domestically grown in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture, with plenty of sunlight and lush nature. The Yaeyama Chlorella strains offered at Euglena Co., Ltd. are harvested at Ishigaki Island and have been developed through continuous improvement. We follow a rigorous inspection process to select high-quality strains. Our Yaeyama Chlorella grows through photosynthetic production using the island's mild climate, abundant sunlight, and clean water, and has a perfect balance of proteins, vitamins, and minerals and grows into chlorella with high CGF and chlorophyll content.

The highest amino acid score of 100

The amino acids in our chlorella have the highest score of 100, allowing for efficient intake of amino acids. The amino acid score is a value that measures the nutritional value of protein contained in food based on the ratio of the contained essential amino acids. In general, the closer the score is to 100, the better the protein quality since the efficiency of amino acid intake is determined by the amino acid present in the least amount according to Liebig's law of the minimum.

Our chlorella is the world's first to achieve the ASC-MSC Seaweed (Algae) Standard certification

Our chlorella is the first in the world to achieve the ASC-MSC Seaweed (Algae) Standard certification. The ASC certification is an international certification for farmed seafood grown using environmentally and socially responsible aquafarming methods. The MSC certification is an international certification for recognizing fishery products caught in sustainable and environmentally friendly ways.
Our chlorella is a sustainable-friendly food grown in the beautiful nature of Ishigaki Island in Okinawa Prefecture.
