  Our segments and main businesses are as follows.
  Healthcare business: Planning and sales of healthcare products such as foods and cosmetics, OEM supply, raw material development and production, etc.
  Biofuel business: R&D, manufacturing and sales of biofuel, development of technology for cultivating microalgae such as Euglena, etc.
  Other businesses: Manufacture and sale of organic compound fertilizers, gene analysis services, social business, research and development in new areas, etc.

Healthcare Business

• Please tell us about the characteristics of microalgae Euglena.

  Microalgae Euglena (Japanese name: Midori Mushi) are a type of algae like kelp and wakame seaweed. It is a small organism with a body length of approximately 30 µm to 50 µm, and has both the characteristics of a plant that performs photosynthesis and an animal that has flagella and is able to move freely. It is also utilized as a food resource because it contains 59 kinds of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and unsaturated fatty acids, and as a biofuel resource because it produces fats and oils in its body.

Biofuel Business

• Please tell us about the current introduction of biofuels.

  2018年に神奈川県横浜市鶴見区にバイオ燃料実証プラントが竣工しました。この実証プラントにおいて、バイオジェット燃料、バイオディーゼル燃料などを製造しています。また陸・海・空の分野において合計93件を超える導入実績がございます。
  なお、実証プラントは実証フェーズの目標が成功裏に達成できたことを踏まえ2024年1月末で稼働終了し、商業化に向けた取組みに注力しております。

• Does Production Technology Research Institute in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa Prefecture produce biofuel?

  In Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture, we mainly manufacture Euglena powder for health food and other healthcare businesses, but we do not manufacture biofuel.

  2022年12月にイタリアのEni社、マレーシアのPETRONAS社と3社共同で商業プラントの建設に関する発表を行いました。当該商業プラントの進捗については、3社間で引き続き協議・検討を進め、現在建設・資材調達の入札プロセスが進行中です。2024年半ば頃の最終投資決定を目指しておりますが、3社共同プロジェクトのため、具体的な進捗状況についてはコメントを控えさせて頂いており、進捗に応じて3社協議の上で開示を検討してまいります。
