So far, Euglena intake improves colorectal cancer and blood sugar levels, paramylon intake alleviates the symptoms of atopic dermatitis, and carbon tetrachloride causes hepatitis. In this study, the Euglena and paramylon on NASH and fibrosis were verified using STAM® mice. As a result, it Euglena suppressed liver fibrosis by a route not involved in inflammation, and paramylon may have prevented liver fibrosis by improving inflammation. Suppressing fibrosis, which is a carcinogenic factor from NASH, leads to prevention of liver cancer. Therefore, Euglena and paramylon as foods suppresses fibrosis to cause cancer. May function in the prevention of.

So far, it has been reported that ingestion of Euglena (scientific name: Euglena gracilis) may contribute to the improvement of lifestyle-related diseases such as suppression of blood glucose elevation and promotion of cholesterol excretion. In this study, in order to verify the effect of Euglena on obesity, which is one of the lifestyle-related diseases, the effect of Euglena extract on adipocyte differentiation was investigated. The results suggest that the Euglena extract has an inhibitory effect on adipocyte differentiation.

Identification of paramylon-degrading enzyme endo-1,3-β-glucanase and enzymatic functional analysis
β-glucanase is an enzyme that hydrolyzes polysaccharides such as laminarin and curdlan whose main structure is β-1,3-glucan of glucose. It is a feed additive, texture improver, beer filtration efficiency improver, etc. It is an enzyme that is expected to be used in various industries. Exo-type β-1,3-glucanase has been identified from E. gracilis so far, but in recent years, we have newly identified three types of endo-1,3 from E. gracilis lysate using enzyme activity as an index. We have succeeded in purifying and identifying -β-glucanase and further determining the base sequence of the gene encoding this enzyme. In this study, we report the results of enzymatic functional analysis such as metabolic rate parameters (Km, Vmax), substrate specificity, and indicated temperature of this enzyme.
