Real Tech Fund invests in "Kyulux Co., Ltd.", which develops organic EL materials

Euglena Investment Co., Ltd.

Euglena Investment Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative: Akihiko Nagata) is an organic electroluminescence (organic EL) as a new investment destination for the venture capital fund "Real Tech Fund".
We are pleased to announce that we have invested in Kyulux, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Kyulux"), a venture company from Kyushu University that develops materials.

Organic EL materials are attracting attention as materials for next-generation displays that will replace liquid crystal displays used in smartphones and televisions. In liquid crystal displays, images are displayed on the display by illuminating the red, green, and blue color filters with a backlight, but organic EL materials do not require a backlight because the material itself can emit red, green, and blue light. It is expected that the display will be thinner, lighter, and consume less power. However, with conventional organic EL materials, the luminous efficiency of blue is only about 25% of the luminous efficiency of red and green, and in order to display each color uniformly, it is necessary to apply a lot of electricity to blue or organic blue. It was necessary to increase the luminous area of the EL material. In addition, rare metals such as iridium are required to achieve 100% luminous efficiency of red and green, and the problem is that the manufacturing cost is high.
The research group at Kyushu University overcame these issues and succeeded in developing an organic EL material with 100% luminous efficiency for each color. Culux holds the exclusive right to use multiple patents related to the organic EL materials developed by the research group, and utilizes the technology to manufacture high-quality and low-cost organic EL materials originating in Japan. It is a venture company aiming for global standardization.

This time, the Real Tech Fund will provide funding by underwriting the shares issued by Culux through a third-party allotment, and will also provide support for research and development, sales and marketing activities for the company's commercialization. ..
 The details are as follows.
