　Euglena Co., Ltd. (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo, hereafter Euglena) and Ito-Yokado Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President <COO>: Atsushi Kamei, hereafter Ito-Yokado) launched the "Committee on Midorimushi Body" project, a type of algae produced and sold by Euglena "Ishigaki Euglena (Japanese name: Midorimushi, hereinafter Euglena) ) ”Was jointly developed with eight food manufacturers, and Japan's first food corner with Euglena will be opened at 165 Ito-Yokado stores nationwide from April 15, 2014 (Tuesday).

　In 2005, Euglena succeeded in mass-culturing Euglena as a food product outdoors for the first time in the world, and has been developing products containing Euglena. On the other hand, Ito-Yokado is paying attention to Euglena as a new material that is rich in nutrition and supports customers' daily health, and "I want to deliver nutritionally superior and high value-added products to customers." The ideas of both companies matched, leading to the launch of the "Euglena Body Committee" project. The "Euglena Body Committee" aims to more easily supplement the nutrition that modern people tend to lack through foods containing Euglena, also known as Euglena.

　This time, the first project, eight food manufacturers from Kagome Co., Ltd., Lotte Co., Ltd., Calbee Co., Ltd., Bourbon Corporation, Nagatanien Co., Ltd., Iwatsuka Confectionery Co., Ltd., Riken Vitamin Co., Ltd., and Montwar Co., Ltd. Thank you for your support. For the first time in Japan, Euglena containing vegetable drinks, gum, instant miso soup, and wakame seaweed soup will be commercialized and will be rolled out at 165 Ito-Yokado stores nationwide. Euglena is the first time that multiple food products containing euglena have been rolled out nationwide.

■ What is "Euglena (Japanese name: Euglena)"?

Euglena Co., Ltd. succeeded in mass culturing as a food for the first time in the world in 2005, and is currently commercializing foods, cosmetics, and pet foods. In addition, research and development are underway to develop it as feed for livestock, industrial lubricants, and bio-jet fuel.
