Euglena Co., Ltd.
Yaeyama Shokusan Co., Ltd.
Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo, hereinafter Euglena Co., Ltd.) and Yaeyama Shokusan Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture, President: Yasumasa Shikiya, hereinafter Yaeyama Shokusan) We are pleased to inform you that Euglena (scientific name: Euglena) and Chlorella, which are microalgaes produced in Okinawa, have acquired halal certification. A corporate group consisting of the Botanical High-Tech Research Institute (as of February 3, 2014).
This certification has been obtained from the Japanese halal certification body (Japan Muslim Association), which is approved by the Malaysian government halal certification body (JAKIM). Since JAKIM's halal certification is well known worldwide, it is also valid in Islamic countries other than Malaysia, and it is characterized by a large number of acquisitions by Japanese companies.
The acquisition of halal certification will enable export to the halal food market, which is estimated to be 60 trillion yen. Chlorella produced in Yaeyama is often exported overseas and is used as a food ingredient in regions centered on North America and Europe. In addition, Euglena has set a medium-term management goal of "to increase the market size of Euglena foods to 30 billion yen overseas, mainly in Asia" by 2018. Euglena, a group of Euglena, and Yaeyama Shokusan will promote the spread of Euglena and Chlorella in the Islamic world while investigating local cultures, etc. in order to make them more familiar ingredients. I will come. In the spring of 2014, we plan to start developing foods using Euglena in the Republic of Bangladesh.
