　Euglena Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Mitsuru Izumo) is pleased to announce that Euglena Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Leave a Nest Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)) We are pleased to announce that the International Society of Algae Global Algae Summit 2023 (GAS 2023) was held in Malaysia on August 17, 2023.

　Malaysia is suitable for photosynthesis of plants due to its warm climate and amount of sunlight, and many researchers are conducting research on algae. However, international conferences on algae have not been held regularly.
　Therefore, four parties with knowledge of algae and know-how of holding international conferences will jointly create a place where universities, companies researching algae, and government officials from inside and outside Malaysia gather to expand their networks. For this purpose, we held the Global Algae Summit 2023 (GAS 2023).
　We will continue to hold this conference regularly and aim to promote further research and development together with Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.

About Euglena Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
Euglena Malaysia was established in 2022 as the local operation base of Eiglena Co., Ltd. Euglena Malaysia started R&D department in 2023 and is conducting research and development as the Euglena Group's- Tropical Biomass Technology Research Institute in a laboratory (Euglena - UTM satellite lab) located at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia ( UTM ) Kuala Lumpur campus. In addition to conducting research focusing on maximizing and optimizing biomass production and utilization for biofuel feedstick applications, including microalgae such as euglena, other algae, and plants, the laboratory aims to promote biomass-related research and development in the ASEAN region, including Malaysia.
