Research on developing artificial feed for silk moth from microalgae Euglena etc.

 Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Mitsuru Izumo) is a national research and development corporation commissioned by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to develop artificial feed for silkworms from microalgaes such as Euglena We are pleased to inform you that it has been selected as a research theme for the "New Industry Creation Project by the Silkworm Revolution" led by the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (National Agriculture and Food Research Organization).

 This project aims to accelerate the creation of new industries in the silk moth industry by producing useful proteins and new silk, which are raw materials for test drugs, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, etc., from genetically modified silk moth.
 Among them, we will Euglena a food material and the knowledge of livestock feed research to replace mulberry leaves and enhance functionality, which are becoming more expensive due to restrictions on production areas and production methods. To this end, we plan to develop artificial feeds using microalgaes such as Euglena Through this research, we also aim to establish a new method of utilizing the Euglena
