Euglena 's "Future Generation Advisory Board" established
Toward “co-creation” with future generations as a new challenge
Update from CFO (Chief Future Officer) under 18 years old

Euglena Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Mitsuru Izumo) has updated its initiatives for CFOs (Chief Future Officers) under the age of 18, and announced that they will be in charge of their CFOs in February 2024. We would like to inform you that we will be establishing a "Future Generation Advisory Board."

Our company's Euglena philosophy is "Sustainability First," and we operate a healthcare business that supports extending healthy lifespans, a biofuel business that aims to solve Climate Change, and a sustainable agritech business that aims for circular agriculture. We are developing a variety of businesses centered on sustainability, including social business in Bangladesh.
Based on the idea that in order to create a sustainable future as a company, the generation that will be responsible for the future should participate in the company, we established the CFO position in 2019 for people under 18 years old, and since then we have expanded to 3 years old. The current CFO was appointed and has led efforts to strengthen the sustainability of the company's management, making recommendations that take into account Climate Change, well-being, and the post-SDGs.

■ Reasons for establishing the “Future Generation Advisory Board” and a review of the CFO’s efforts

Last year, we sought a fourth-generation CFO for our next sustainability initiative, and many future generations with great ideas applied. However, the future that our company was aiming for, such as the establishment of a specialized department within our company to embody "Sustainability First," and initiatives with future generations such as CFOs are expanding in companies and governments. As initiatives with generations and the social participation of future generations have become widespread both inside and outside the company, CFOs should move from their "proposal" type of initiatives to the next phase and aim for "co-creation" with future generations. I came to this conclusion.
In order to "co-create" with future generations, we have established a "Future Generation Advisory Board" under the "Sustainability Committee" to discuss promoting Euglena Group's sustainability activities and ESG management. We will consider and evolve our existing initiatives together with future generation advisory board members.

The details of the 2024 Future Generation Advisory Board are as follows.

■About the 2024 “Future Generation Advisory Board”
The "Future Generation Advisory Board" has been established under the Sustainability Committee, chaired by Izumo, the company's representative director and president.
・Discussion with Co-CEO (once every 3 months)
・Participation in the Sustainability Committee (3 times a year)
・Dialogue with people in charge of projects such as our product design and various events (1-2 times a month)
・Other planning and consideration of CFO alumni formation and initiatives with future generations
Through these efforts, we will play a role in strengthening the co-creation system for the future.

What is the Sustainability Committee?
A meeting established in February 2023 to discuss various policies, goals, strategies, and countermeasures to promote Euglena Group's sustainability activities and ESG management. Midori Watanabe, the third CFO, served as the first committee chair in 2023. Mitsuru Izumo, our representative director and president, will serve as the chairperson for fiscal 2024 https://www.euglena.jp/companyinfo/sustainability/management_system/
