Hello everyone, this is Mohammed Akerzaman, Director of Bangladesh Office.
Euglena GENKI Program" started on April 1st.
This time, we will introduce the program and the process from cookie production to distribution.

What is "Euglena GENKI Program"?

The "Euglena GENKI Program" is a project to distribute cookies containing euglena (local name "Euglena Nutrition Biscuits") to children in Bangladesh, which started in April.
With the support of our company and partner companies, and the cooperation of local NGOs, we plan to distribute 600,000 meals a year to about 2,500 elementary school students in the first year.

Bangladesh office opened-cookie tasting distribution

The Bangladesh office opened on October 1st. From there, two members of the Bangladesh office held meetings with local partners, held briefing sessions for elementary school teachers and parents who are eligible for cookie distribution, and arranged for cookie production. However, in January, the political instability continued due to the influence of the general strike (local general strike) toward the Bangladesh election, so we changed the start time to April and proceeded with preparations.

After coordinating with the parties concerned, the distribution of cookies from April will be started for 5 elementary schools run by an NGO called SUROVI. Prior to the full-scale start, we pre-distributed cookies containing euglena to about 60 third grade children at Bauniyabad D Block SUROVI Elementary School, and served about 7,500 meals in five months from November to March. I distributed it. Many gratitude was received from the local children, parents, and local people who participated, and I was able to gain confidence and response in advancing the project.

Cookie production

Cookies containing euglena are manufactured by mixing euglena powder shipped from Japan at a long-established cookie factory in Bangladesh called Nabisco Biscuit & Bread Factory Ltd., which boasts a history of nearly 60 years. Anis Alam Siddiqui, an advisor to the company and a professor at Bangladesh State University, is in charge of the recipe for the cookie with euglena, and it is a self-confident work that pushes the drumstick saying, "It's delicious.
During the tour on April 5, 1.5 tons (30,000 meals, equivalent to 300 boxes of cardboard) were manufactured and delivered to all target elementary schools so that distribution could begin the day after the opening ceremony.

Elementary school visit and cookie distribution

The day before the ceremony, we visited Mamunur Rashid SUROVI Elementary School and greeted teachers and children. The classroom in the elementary school is a barracks hut, and although it is dim and hot and humid inside, the children are studying hard with their eyes shining and they listened to a wonderful chorus.
