1. 1. Breaking News: Food Assistance for Local Schools in Bangladesh in Corona

From June to July 2020 in Bangladesh, a terrible corona, we distributed 400,000 Euglena cookies as food aid to residents of the slums of the capital city of Dhaka, which is suffering from food shortages and rising prices. The following month, we held discussions with OBAT Helpers, one of the NGOs that cooperated in the distribution, to see if similar food assistance could be provided to the poor in the suburbs of Dhaka. Obat Helpers operates a number of schools for the poor throughout Bangladesh. Of these, four schools in Dhaka have been participating in this program since August 2014, when the Euglena As a result of discussions, 100,000 new Euglena cookies will be added to students at schools operated by Obert Helpers (20 schools in total) in 6 regions (Rangpur, Bogra, Shedpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chittagong) except Dhaka. I decided the project to distribute. The number of distribution was 20 bags per student, and the total number of people to be distributed was 5,000. At the time of distribution, out of the total cost of this project, 10 yen per cookie bag, but it was agreed that 4 yen of that would be supported by Overt Helpers. As for the distribution method, we decided to have the students go to school while maintaining their social distance while the school closure measures continued, and the teacher handed them directly to the students. We set school days in advance for each school, and with the cooperation of volunteers, we divided each 20 bags and notified the parents of the students. On the day of distribution, it was held in the playgrounds and classrooms of each school based on the target audience list created in advance. On the day of the event, students who could not attend school due to poor physical condition were separately delivered to each student's household. It was carried out from September 5th to September 25th and was completed without delay. "We are very pleased to be able to distribute 5,000 Euglena cookies to the poor as the difficult situation continues in Corona," said Actal of Obert Helpers, who is in charge of this project. He talked about his feelings. Going forward, we will continue to make flexible efforts by strengthening relationships with local partners.

2. Introducing schools that offer supplementary lessons by visiting at home under the extension of school closure measures

Euglena GENKI program target schools are working on online lessons to provide students with regular learning opportunities as schools continue to be closed. This time, we will introduce an example of Hamim Model Elementary School where a teacher visits a student's home and operates a one-on-one supplementary lesson. There are 14 teachers working at Hamim Model Elementary School, which has a total of 350 students in Dhaka City, and the teachers organize visit rotations and hold supplementary lessons once a week at each student's home. .. During the visit, the teachers carefully wash their limbs and face with soap, put on a mask, and then enter the student's home. Because the house is small, teachers and students often sit together on the bed to teach. One supplementary lesson lasts 40 minutes and mainly focuses on math and English. In the first half of the 20 minutes, you will be taught what you will learn, and in the second half of the 20 minutes, you will be able to answer the questions you gave last time as your homework. Parents will watch over you so that you can complete all your homework in advance except during class hours. By the way, it costs about 370 yen per month for students to take this supplementary class, but 190 students, which is more than half of the total number of students, participate. Many parents of students find supplementary lessons very useful for their children. Maria, a 12-year-old mother in 6th grade, says: "Since the school was closed, my daughter spent all her time watching TV at home, but after the supplementary lessons began, she started studying again. She regained her habit of studying. In addition, I had the opportunity to have a conversation with my daughter about new lessons. ”Also, Principal Araudin, who teaches himself, said,“ Under the influence of the new coronavirus infection, we The result of considering how to create an environment where students can face their studies was a supplementary lesson by visiting at home. I hope that it will lead to the benefit that students will have the opportunity to learn again even in the face of adversity. " He told me. We also hope that classes at school will resume as soon as possible, and at the same time, we will continue to consider creating an environment where Euglena
