In September 2015, Euglena Taketomi Shrimp Aquaculture Co., Ltd., a company involved in the aquaculture and sale of Japanese tiger prawns on Taketomi Island, one of the Yaeyama Islands in Okinawa Prefecture, joined the Euglena Group.
This enables the use of by-products generated after extracting oil from Euglena and other biomass as animal feed, and testing of the usefulness of microalgae including Euglena as animal feed within the Euglena Group.
Furthermore, we expect to see a synergistic effect in terms of improving productivity for Japanese tiger prawn aquaculture by providing Euglena’s expertise in areas such as microalgae cultivation methods. Through our business activities, we are aiming to further grow the regional economy in the Yaeyama Islands, which is a major research hub for the Euglena Group.
The Mifaiyu Project (meaning “Thank you” in the local dialect) that conducts things such as sporting activities and educational support on Ishigaki Island
We will extensively promote the benefits of Euglena from Ishigaki Island and locally produced products in order to contribute toward further development of the region of Ishigaki Island, with the goal of helping the people of Ishigaki Island and all who visit the island to be healthy in both mind and body through food.
