Euglena, meaning gbeautiful eyeh, is a single-celled algae that can be found in lakes, ponds, and even puddles. It was named after Leeuwenhoek, a microscope inventor in the 17th century, who incidentally found Euglena through the lens. Euglena has the characteristics of both animal and plant, where it moves around like an animal, and photosynthesizes like a plant. This is a unique feature compared to other types of algae, since they are often considered as plants. It can also produce and store rich nutrients from carbon dioxide.
Euglena contains well-balanced nutrients that are required for the human body. Some of which are:
*Multi-vitamins
*Fatty acids such as DHA and EPA
*Essential amino acids
Beside the nutrients, Euglena contains gParamylonh, constructed from highly crystallized three helicoidally-shaped Ŕ-1,3- glucan chains, which act as antioxidant for the body.
Paramylon has unique characteristics (acceleration of cholesterol excretion, and more..) which is only found in Euglena. It is a fine powder, that can be put to use for cosmetics and other commodities.
For food problem
Euglena can be used for nutritional food and supplements, which is beneficial for malnourished people especially insufficient in vitamins and protein. Our goal is to provide food assistance for developing countries.
For environmental problems
Euglena absorbs carbon dioxide to produce valuable substances. It can capture high concentrated carbon dioxide (up to 40%) of gases exhausted from plants (power plants, iron works, etc.) to reduce carbon dioxide emission.
For space food
From its nutritional and functional aspects, Euglena is anticipated to be used for space food.
Our product gEuglena Pureh contains highly nutritional Euglena, royal jelly, condroitin,@and brewerfs yeast. gEuglena pureh has excellent antioxidant ability and is a great colon cleanser, with many other health benefits. Euglena Pure eliminates toxic wastes and unneeded cholesterol from the intestines, to help re-absorb necessary nutrients into the body.
Euglena is able to capture carbon dioxide and produce various materials which can be used for Food, Cosmetics, Feed, Fertilizer, and Fuel. Euglena can grow under an extremely high concentration of carbon dioxide, even up to 40%. Hence, Euglena can be applied to exhaust gases from power plants, iron works, etc. to reduce carbon dioxide emission.
Power plants, iron works, and other factories exhaust a huge amount of carbon dioxide. A 500,000 kW thermal power plant emits about 4,300 t/day of carbon dioxide. To absorb its emitted carbon dioxide by Euglena, 3,000 t/day of Euglena will be produced. This Euglena can be used for Food, Cosmetics, Feed, Fertilizer, and Fuel.
A 500,000 kW thermal power plant emits about 1.57 million t/year of carbon dioxide. This amount of emission right creates 10,915,938 euros (in the European market 02/2007.); 17,211,705 US dollars. When full-scale trading starts, companies must take measures to reduce carbon dioxide emission or purchase rights from the market.
Euglena that captures carbon dioxide can be converted to fuel, and therefore be useful for emission trading business.
Euglena contains fine-powder Paramylon inside the body which can be used for cosmetics. And some scientists research to apply it for biodegradable film, drug, cosmetics and any more. Palamylon has a great future for use in various industries.
